Nice runnings

Every time I'm down here in Albany I go for a little run around the local lake. It's really nice getting out, it's a beautiful nature track, much better than running on the treadmill at the gym. It's short enough for me to make it through without suffocating when I haven't ran properly in months. Like today. And long enough to call it a proper run. Maybe around 5km.

Today I saw an eagle circling over me, a couple of lizards jumping off the track, numerous more lizards shuffling out of sight in the bushes as I trampled past, and a whole lot of colourful swamp and wild flowers thinking it's still spring. The track itself winds around the lake, dodging trees and bushes, parts of it on a wooden footbridge. I always enjoy going around that lake, even when I'm completely huffed. I think I need to move into a house near a forest, next to a lake…

I'm on a bus

In a surprise move we made it on the bus to Albany from East Perth without running. Slightly stressed and last minute, yes, but no running. Even more surprising, Ben beat us there. He was at work Christmas party last night, we weren't. With a broken fridge at home I hadn't had much in the way of breakfast, so I was happy to score an egg and bacon sandwich at the bus station.

David Attenborough is talking about insects on the inboard entertainment system. The elderly citizens and we are enjoying it. The trip went incredibly smooth, I was engulfed in the iPad for most of the way, catching up on my Instapaper articles. I got through a great article on content , Style vs. Design, CSS gradients, and a few more personal ones. And I played Sims City for the first time. Sadly my first effort of a social democratic New Perth went bankrupt. But still fun.

The little stop in Williams was also nice, I got to see rain in the outback for more or less the first time. There was even water running in the creek, warm enough for a hot shower, so probably some well needed rain.
