1st January: The official feel good about doing nothing day.

I had a great time at The Bakery last night, with most of my friends there, and Dam-Funk, Gaslamp Killer, Flying Lotus and Harmonic 313 all playing. Naturally I woke up today with the traditional hangover, but that's the good thing about New Years Day. It's expected to do as little as possible, and just hang out with friends in similar states of mind.

After a facebook status update and a few SMS' we had breakfast at The Merchant on Baufort street. They were open and busy, but we still got a good table. Possibly because we were having breakfast at 3pm. Breakfast was Bloody Marys and Chorizo, egg and vegetables on toast. Tasty! Apart from us two we had Frank, Trish, Fahmi, Ciara, Fiona and Chris there. Jules also honoured us with a brief visit in-between pints at the Queens.

We then relocated to City Beach to lay in the shade of what was left of this 35 degree day. And had this years first swim, which felt great.

For dinner we had fish and chips from the Broker and his Wife in the park next to it, before we made a move for Planet Video where we ended up getting Zombie Land. First time I've seen a zombie movie in years, and it was pretty funny.

And the best thing? All this slacking around, doing nothing, with good friends, and not having to feel even a hint of bad consciousness for any "shoulds" I usually have nagging at the back of my mind.

Happy 2011 everybody.
